The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) is a global competitive circuit where the best Rocket League players in the world take to the field in both online and in-person events. Over the course of a season players complete in three splits (Fall, Winter, and Spring), earning points based on their placement in each event.

I, along with Murty Shah, developed the circuit to best satisfy the two key pillars of our product:

  1. All tournaments must maintain an unparalleled level of competitive integrity

  2. All tournaments must stand as an entertainment product that’s easily digestible for the public, but offers deeper opportunities of engagement for hardcore fans.

To accomplish this I oversaw the following tasks:

  • Set schedules at the regional and global levels, assuring each day of competition from Open Qualifiers to Championship Sunday accommodated players’ needs and remained approachable for viewers

  • Balance points and cash prizing earned through each event so that values are proportionate throughout the season

  • Codify the official RLCS rule set with the Epic Games legal team

Operating in seven distinct regions (Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, North America, Oceania, South America, Sub-Saharan Africa), I led the team of Regional Managers who executed each regional event as well as the in-person Majors and World Championship. Together we successfully ran thousands of games over the course of a season, provided live technical support for players both online and in-person, and made competitive rulings in high-pressure situations that followed our comprehensive ruleset.
